Adrian Chiles to present new topical ITV comedy show
ITV have announced that Adrian Chiles is to host a new topical comedy show for the network. The presenter signed to ITV earlier this year to front its World Cup football coverage and morning magazine show Daybreak, but the network is now looking for other shows for him to present too.
That Sunday Night Show is to be an eight part series which will be broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday nights from early 2011. The format will see Chiles joined by three guests, each of whom will "provide their unique opinions on the stories that have the country talking, whilst having a laugh along the way."
Comedians already signed up to appear on the show include Jenny Eclair, Al Murray, Frank Skinner and Catherine Tate; whilst celebrity names booked include X Factor judge Louis Walsh, spin-doctor Alastair Campbell, F1 driver David Coulthard, businesswoman Margaret Mountford, MP John Prescott, football manager Harry Redknapp and musician Shaun Ryder.
Elaine Bedell, ITV's Director of Comedy and Entertainment, says: "That Sunday Night Show promises to be the perfect round up of the week as Adrian and his guests cast a wry eye over the past seven day's events and the week ahead."
The show is produced by Avalon, the company behind Russell Howard's Good News and Frank Skinner's Opinionated. They have been working on the format with Chiles since before he joined ITV - the show went through some early dry runs in October 2009. This commission follows a non-broadcast pilot which was recorded with guests Jon Richardson, footballer Gareth Southgate and Dragons' Den judge Duncan Bannatyne at Hammersmith's Riverside Studios last Friday.
That Sunday Night Show starts on Sunday 9th January with guests including Catherine Tate and Shaun Ryder.
