Lee And Dean Series 2 confirmed
- The sitcom Lee And Dean is to return to Channel 4 for a second series
- The six new episodes will continue on from the cliff-hanger ending of Series 1
- Stars Mark O'Sullivan and Miles Chapman say "We're thrilled to be diving back into the lives of Lee and Dean"
Channel 4 has recommissioned Lee And Dean, the sitcom about two dodgy builders.
The network confirms: "Channel 4 has recommissioned Lee And Dean, the hilarious construction of comedy talents Mark O'Sullivan and Miles Chapman who play the eponymous Stevenage-based builder best mates. The series will return for a six-part run."
The format started life as an online pilot before becoming a TV show. The first series, which aired in March, followed the relationship between Lee, Dean and their friends through "charity galas, poetry nights, bark rubbing competitions, prison sentences and shockingly eventful stag and hen weekends."
The final episode of Series 1 ended on a cliff-hanger in which the duo's client Mrs Bryce-D'Souza announced she was pregnant; Lee and his girlfriend Nikki's relationship was left in tatters; and Lee and Dean came to blows...
Channel 4 says: "Who is the father of Mrs Bryce-D'Souza's baby? Will Lee and Dean mend their friendship? Will Lee and Nikki get married? And will Dean ever reveal his true feelings for Lee?"
The six new episodes will again be written by Mark O'Sullivan, Miles Chapman and Sam Underwood, with the cast list also including Anna Morris, Camille Ucan and Ricky Grover.
Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, says: "I may not be prepared to hire Lee and Dean to do work on my house, but I am prepared to give them another run at this brilliant original comedy. We can't wait to see where Mark, Miles and the Bingo [production company] team take the characters this time."
Mark O'Sullivan and Miles Chapman comment: "We're thrilled to be diving back into the lives of Lee and Dean. Making the first series was a dream come true, and being given another is truly amazing. We can't wait to continue the story - we promise there'll be plenty of twists and surprises. And bark rubbing, of course."
