Al Murray to pilot pub quiz format for TV
- Al Murray is to pilot a TV format in which he hosts a pub quiz
- A pilot run-through of Al Murray's Pub Quiz will take place in July
Al Murray is working on a new TV pilot idea in which he hosts a quiz.
Few details are currently known about Al Murray's Pub Quiz, however a not-for-broadcast pilot will be filmed soon.
Advertising for a studio audience, producers Avalon say: "Join Al Murray as he turns real 'pub landlord' to host a pilot for a TV pub quiz show, filmed in front of a small audience."
Talking about the format, they add: "There'll be special celebrity guests, lots of fun games and challenging questions - and you may even get a chance to join in with the quiz!"
It is not believed that the format will involve his much-loved Pub Landlord character.
The run through for Al Murray's Pub Quiz will take place on Monday (2nd July) at The Tabernacle venue in London. Free tickets
This isn't the first TV quiz show that Murray has hosted. He previously fronted the suggestively titled Fact Hunt for ITV in 2005, and the game show Al Murray's Compete For The Meat for Dave in 2011. Meanwhile in 2010 he published The Pub Landlord's Great British Pub Quiz Book.
Further details about Al Murray's Pub Quiz will be revealed if the format is commissioned.
