Sally Phillips to host TV series My Favourite Sketch
- Sally Phillips is to host new series My Favourite Sketch for TV channel Gold
- Stars including Jessica Hynes and Paul Whitehouse will talk about their favourite TV sketches
- To close each of the six episodes episode, the host and her guest will re-enact a favourite sketch
Gold is to broadcast a series in which comedy stars talk about their favourite TV comedy scenes.
My Favourite Sketch will be hosted by Sally Phillips. The Smack The Pony star has previously hosted the first episode of UKTV's Crackanory (pictured), and starred in Taskmaster.
Six hour long episodes are being made, with the channel confirming: "Gold will open the vaults to the greatest sketch comedy of all time with brand new UKTV Original My Favourite Sketch. It's hosted by Sally Phillips, who will invite a beloved comedy star onto each episode to discuss sketches from the last 70 years of comedy."
The guests have been announced as Jessica Hynes, Jason Manford, Bob Mortimer, Sue Perkins, Johnny Vegas, and Paul Whitehouse.
The producers say: "Each episode of My Favourite Sketch will showcase the sketches that have inspired and shaped each guest's career, interspersed with fascinating anecdotes and behind the scenes information about the sketches in question. To close each episode, Sally and her guest will take part in a re-enactment of their undisputed number one favourite."
Sally Phillips says: "Sketch comedy holds a dear place in my heart and I'm looking forward to discussing it with my guests across this exciting new series."
Commissioner Iain Coyle says: "This is a brilliant, simple idea and I can't wait to see what sketches my comedy heroes choose. From 'Two Soups' to 'Mulligan and O'Hare', some of my favourite TV moments are in the sketch genre and Sally has such amazing comedy credentials, she's the perfect host for this."

Michael Kelpie, managing director of Potato, the ITV Studios owned production company that is making the show, says: "My Favourite Sketch is a real passion project for us and we're absolutely thrilled to be working with the team at UKTV for the first time."
As revealed recently, Phillips is also set to host a TV panel show pilot called The Rules, and will star in a semi-improvised mockumentary as part of a BBC Wales comedy season.
My Favourite Sketch is due to be filmed in front of a studio audience. Recordings begin in June. Free tickets
The series will be shown on Gold later this year.
