Stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan is to host a comedy and entertainment show pilot for Channel 4.
Mo's Town is described as "a jam packed hour of comedy, sketches, music, celebrity guests and audience interaction".
The pilot is not set to be shown on television, but will be used by executives to decide whether to order a series or not.
Channel 4 explains: "Mo will be at the helm of a vibrant, high energy comedy entertainment extravaganza as he is joined by a variety of guests including fellow comedian and the man behind Big Shaq, Michael Dapaah.
"Filming at Peckham Levels, Mo will harness the dynamism and joy of his critically acclaimed stand-up shows to present a fast paced, irreverent and comical hour of fun and games which will also see appearances from all his well-known characters and a raft of VT sketches."
Mo Gilligan started his career using the stage name Mo The Comedian. He has built up a strong online presence, resulting in him being able to play large venues on his recent Coupla Cans Tour.
He says of the news he is to film a pilot: "I grew up watching Channel 4, walking past the building every day on my way to school. So it's nuts to try and get my head around the fact that I'm now making a show with them. I'm so excited to bring what I do to the channel!"
Commissioning Editor Syeda Irtizaali comments: "We are delighted to have landed the extraordinary Mo Gilligan hot off the back of his sell out tour. His high-octane style, comedic instincts and total understanding of his audience is reflected brilliantly in the very inventive, very funny and thoroughly modern Mo's Town. He is an astonishing talent and we are thrilled to have him on the channel."
Kate Edmunds from production company Tiger Aspect adds: "Continuing Tiger Aspect's history of collaborating with the best and brightest comedians, we're over the moon to be working with the charismatic force of nature that is Mo Gilligan and opening the doors to Mo's Town. Mo is a rare, unique talent so it makes total sense that he should find a home at Channel 4."
Tickets will be available to the recording shortly. News on whether Channel 4 is to order a series of the show is likely to be revealed later in 2018.
Gilligan recently appeared on The Chris Ramsey Show, and performed on The Russell Howard Hour. Below is his set from the latter show:
