Kelsey Grammer to guest star in Porters
- American sitcom legend Kelsey Grammer will appear in new comedy Porters
- The sitcom will launch on UKTV's Dave channel on 20th September
- A first-look image and preview clip have also been released
New Dave sitcom Porters will feature a guest appearance from American star Kelsey Grammer.
The broadcaster confirmed the news of the Frasier star's cameo today as it unveiled details about the series, about the "unseen world" in a modern hospital.
Last year the comic actor appeared in British comedy film Breaking The Bank, and will be seen on the West End stage in new musical Big Fish, from 1st November until 31st December.
Written by Dan Sefton, three-part series Porters will debut on Tuesday 19th September at 10pm, with Grammer appearing in the first episode as a visiting consulting neurologist.
The sitcom stars Ed Easton as hospital porter and wannabe top medic Simon Porter, with Dutch horror film star Rutger Hauer, Jo Joyner, Susan Wokoma and Claudia Jessie comprising the core cast.
Speaking about working with Grammer, Easton says: "It was totally insane! He's such a nice guy and so amazing to work with. What's weird is we shot a lot of his stuff and then he had to leave so there are a few pick up shots where I had to act opposite a man in a beard and wig playing his part!"
Susan Wokoma added: "He's so dreamy, I went into an absolute mess when I met him for the first time. He said hello and I was screaming inside, 'Oh my god!'. He was on holiday so came in and did a couple of hours. That's always a really good sign of how good a show is going to be when someone says they have one day free and they're willing to come in and join us."
Dave also confirmed that Sanjeev Bhaskar and Mat Horne have guest starring roles in the short series, as they released a first-look image of the cast (above), and a trailer for the first episode (below).
