Rob Rinder, the star of ITV's Judge Rinder, is to host a new topical studio entertainment show pilot for Channel 4.

RinderLand is described as featuring "clever comedy".

Channel 4 explains: "RinderLand will see Rob Rinder helm a topical studio entertainment show in his own inimitable style. With studio items, VT sketches, clever comedy and celebrity guests drawn from Rinder's legendary little black book - he won't shy away from any subject and tackle some taboos head on."

An hour-long pilot episode is due to be recorded at The London Studios on Tuesday 8th August (Tickets). The pilot will not be broadcast, but will be used to decide whether to order a series or not.

RinderLand is being produced by So Television, the production company that makes The Graham Norton Show. Graham Stuart, the Managing Director of So Television, says: "We feel it's about time to reinvent studio entertainment for the modern age. This show, a non-transmission pilot, needs to cover all levels of culture, all categories of politics and all the colours of the rainbow. And we've found the very man to do it."

Robert Rinder, a criminal barrister, rose to fame via hosting Judge Rinder (pictured), ITV's daytime series in which the host arbitrates over a variety of civil cases. The show has run since 2014 and Rinder also now hosts documentary series Judge Rinder's Crime Stories and legal show Raising The Bar on BBC Radio 5 Live.

In September, his mainstream profile was raised when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing, coming fifth overall.

Speaking about RinderLand, Channel 4 says: "Rob Rinder's take on the world encompasses his range of experiences - be it in the courtroom, in the corridors of power, or most recently on the dancefloor."
