Semi-improvised comedy format Murder In Successville has won the Best Entertainment Programme category at the Broadcast Digital Awards 2017. Run by the trade magazine Broadcast, the awards celebrate the best shows on 'digital' channels.
Murder In Successville, which broadcast its third series on BBC Three in April, beat fellow nominees Celebrity Juice, Love Island, Release The Hounds, Taskmaster and Unspun With Matt Forde to the title.
Chewing Gum, the comedy written by and starring Michaela Coel also won a prize at the ceremony, which took place at the Brewery in London with Katherine Ryan as host.
The E4 sitcom was awarded the title of Best Scripted Programme. It was up against fellow comedies Alan Partridge: Scissored Isle, Fleabag and This Country, plus the shows Murdered By My Father and The Tunnel: Sabotage.
Both the channels the winning comedies were broadcast on also won prizes. E4 was named Best Entertainment Channel, whilst BBC Three was labelled Channel of the Year.
