Poldark and Silk star Phil Davis is reportedly to star in a new BBC comedy pilot called Static.
Radio Times reports that the actor will play a man who gives up a top job in the city to return to live with his wife and kids - only to find that the new family home is a caravan park in Margate.
Speaking to the listings magazine, Davis explained: "He decides to give up the rat race and rings them up and he wants to come back but they tell him where they are living - and his bed is a pull out sofa on this caravan." The actor, who is currently starring in Sky drama Riviera, adds: "It's very funny".
A half-hour pilot episode of Static will be filmed this summer.
Phil Davis's previous comedy roles include playing Ray in phone-hacking satire Hacks and a key role in 2017 bakery shop film Dough. His guest roles in sitcoms include My Family, This Is Jinsy and Cabin Pressure.
Static becomes the second comedy based around static caravan parks that is currently in development with the BBC. As revealed earlier in the year, the corporation is working on a comedy drama from Brian Pern creator Rhys Thomas, set in a caravan park populated by divorced men.
The idea is based on the experience of Thomas's father, who moved into a caravan site on a temporary basis and stayed for 18 years. The writer has said he would like to cast Christopher Eccleston and Michael Kitchen as residents of the caravan park if his show does make it to the screen.
Further casting details for Static are set to be revealed later in the year.
