Miranda Hart is to make a studio entertainment show for Channel 4.
Details are currently under wraps, but Channel 4 has confirmed the reports that the currently un-titled show is one of a number of new entertainment formats they are developing.
The hour-long pilot, which will be transmitted on TV later this year, is being made by King Bert Productions, the production company formed by Hart and David Walliams.
Channel 4's Entertainment executive Ed Havard says: "I'm absolutely delighted that we are working with Miranda Hart and King Bert. I have wanted to work with Miranda for a very long time and I'm thrilled we are going to get the chance to do so."
Jo Sargent, the Executive Producer on the project, comments: "I am thrilled to be working with Channel 4 on this exciting project and we are very much looking forward to this collaboration."
Hart's new show will be one of a number of entertainment formats launched on Channel 4 this year. The network is just about to air a new series of The Crystal Maze and other formats in development include game show I Don't Like Mondays, hosted by Alan Carr; The Remote Controller, created by Harry Hill; and a currently untitled entertainment show being devised by Ant & Dec's production company.
Ed Havard talking to Broadcast magazine about making a pilot with Hart, said it was "pretty extraordinary" to be developing a show with "one of the biggest stars in the country". He told the publication: "I want to work with a wide range of the best talent and Miranda should give [independent production companies] an idea of the kind of ambition and talent that we're after."
Miranda Hart is currently appearing in the West End in the musical Annie. In 2015 she was tipped to host a reboot of The Generation Game on the BBC, however the project has since been described as "on hold". Meanwhile it was revealed at the start of the month that her hit sitcom could return "in the next couple of years".
More details about Miranda Hart's Channel 4 format, including the project's name, will be revealed later in the year.
