  • Mel Giedroyc is to host the pilot of a new panel show where the two teams are from different generations
  • Jenny Éclair will host the older team, with Chris Ramsey in charge of the younger team
  • Producers say the show aims to "find out for certain whether life begins or ends at 40"

Mel Giedroyc is to host the pilot of a new panel show that will "pit the generations against each other to find out for certain whether life begins or ends at 40."

Mind The Gap will feature two teams of guests, lead by stand-up comedians Jenny Éclair and Chris Ramsey.

The format was devised by Éclair and comedy producer Judith Holder, who previously created Grumpy Old Women Live together.

The show will be trialled next month by production company Avalon. The company has previously made panel shows such as Heresy for Radio 4 and I Love My Country for the BBC. Their 2017 production slate includes Taskmaster, which Giedroyc is a currently contestant on, and Stand Up Central, which it was recently announced will see Ramsey hosting the next series of.

Talking about Mind The Gap, the producers explain: "Host Mel Giedroyc is joined by a team of young whippersnappers, captained by Chris Ramsey, and a team of old farts, helmed by Jenny Éclair. They will face a series of mental, physical and general knowledge challenges that will determine for good who's best equipped to face the challenges of modern life.

"So if you're a fuddy-duddy who keeps everyone's phone numbers in a little book, thinks that a Youtuber is someone who helps with your bicycle tyres, or firmly believes that no good music was recorded after 1972; or if you're a millennial who has anxiety dreams about battery percentages, cannot imagine a world without kale chips, or whose life goals involve moving out from mum and dad by the age of 30, then Mind The Gap will definitely have some advice you can use."

The run through of Mind The Gap will take place at the George IV pub in Chiswick on Monday 19th June. Free tickets
