  • Speaking in a newspaper interview, she said: "I'm not doing anything more with Ab Fab. That. Is. It."
  • She wants to work on new projects instead, and spend more time with her family

Jennifer Saunders has revealed she will not write any more Absolutely Fabulous TV specials or films.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, she declared: "I'm not doing anything more with Ab Fab. That. Is. It."

With Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie having made over £30 million at the box office earlier in the year, a sequel was expected, however the creator's comments this weekend suggest another film is now off the cards.

The comedian - who created and writes the comedy, as well as playing central character Edina Monsoon - explained to the newspaper that she was bringing and end to the stories of the much-loved characters as she was seeking fresh challenges, and wants more family time: "I can't see the point of doing anything else with [Ab Fab]. It just takes so long. There's lots of other stuff I'd like to do. Plus, I'd like to spend time with my grandchildren."

Saunders also spoke in the interview about how Twitter users are quick to judge and share their thoughts. "Everyone's a critic. At least in the old days you didn't know how many people liked you or hated you, you just lived in this blissful close circle of friends... Nowadays I'm not surprised people are cracking up, because you think, 'This is unsafe'."

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie will be released on DVD and Blu-ray next Monday, 5th December.
