US television network Starz is to attempt to re-make Peep Show. This news follows two previous failed attempts by other networks to bring the format to America.

Trade publication Deadline reports that Executive Producer Eli Jorne, who has previously worked on shows such as Wilfted and Blunt Talk, has been hired to oversee the new version.

Creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong will act as consulting producers on the project. They say: "We are hugely relieved to hand over the responsibility of coming up with the dark and twisted thoughts of two terrible men to the extremely funny, dark and twisted Eli Jorne."

Eli Jorne comments: "I feel lucky to be working with Starz again, and I'm, of course, grateful to Sam and Jesse for entrusting me with nine seasons' worth of insightful, darkly hilarious material that I can hopefully pass off to American audiences as my own."

Peep Show, which launched on Channel 4 in 2003, ran for 54 episodes before being brought to a close by Bain and Armstrong. The duo have moved on to other projects now, including setting up a new production company, Curse These Metal Hands, which has produced Channel 4's new Comedy Blaps series Avatards. Meanwhile stars Robert Webb and David Mitchell have been filming new sitcom pilot Back together, which will be shown on Channel 4 later this year.

Back in 2005, when Peep Show was still in its infancy, Fox made a pilot starring Johnny Galecki (now best known as Leonard from The Big Bang Theory) and Josh Meyers (Randy in That '70s Show), however it failed to be picked up for a series. The Spike network then had another go in 2008 starring Brad Morris and Robert Chester Smith.

News on the casting for the new pilot will be announced at a later date.

A poorly recorded version of the 2005 pilot is available on YouTube. It can be seen below:
