- Catastrophe, People Just Do Nothing and Car Share are up for Scripted Comedy
- The Graham Norton Show and The Last Leg feature in the Entertainment nominations
- Adam Hills, Ant & Dec and Jack Whitehall are nominated for Entertainment Performance
The Royal Television Society has announced the nominees for its 2016 TV Programme Awards, with Catastrophe, Car Share and Chewing Gum leading the comedy nominations.
The RTS Awards are held to "honour excellence across all genres of television programming and recognise exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams as well as the programmes themselves".
The nominees were determined by expert panels, with this year's line-up of judges having been changed. Awards chairman Alex Mahon explains: "I am delighted as the new Chairman to share the news that we have substantially changed the make-up of the judging chairs and the juries to a pattern that I feel is now more representative of Britain and of our viewers. This year, of the 200 or so jurors, we moved to 52% female and 27% BAME."
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 22nd March 2016 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
