New sketch show for Morgana Robinson
- New series for Morgana Robinson
- Impressions Of Fame will include an array of old and new impressions
- A six part series will be on BBC Two in 2016
Morgana Robinson is to star in her own BBC Two sketch show, Impressions Of Fame.
After the production of a successful pilot earlier this year under the title Morgana & Friends, a full series of six episodes has been commissioned by the channel.
The show will explore the world of celebrity both on-and off the screen as Robinson "lifts the celebrity curtain with her incredible impressions".
Morgana quipped today: "The BBC have given me my show under one condition, I'm not allowed to be myself in it. I guess this is what school prepared me for."
Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two and BBC Four, says: "I'm thrilled that the highly talented Morgana is bringing this show to BBC Two - there just isn't anyone else like her.
"I believe that being a home for distinctive and innovative British comedy is one of the key things BBC Two is here to do. 2015 has been a great year for comedy on Two with terrific shows like Boy Meets Girl and Cradle To Grave placed right at the heart of the peak time schedule, plus still to come later this month, A Gert Lush Christmas penned by Russell Howard and starring the inimitable Kerry Howard, and We're Doomed! The Dad's Army Story.
"With Morgana and the rest of our comedy slate, we're promising more of the same fresh, distinctive comedic energy on Two for 2016."
Impressions Of Fame promises new impersonations including Joanna Lumley, Mel & Sue, Gregg Wallace, Miranda Hart and Alan Davies, along with Morgana's huge back catalogue of popular impressions such as Natalie Cassidy, Danny Dyer, Russell Brand and Fearne Cotton.
Neil Webster of production company Happy Tramp says: "Morgana is about 150 incredible talents in one. She embodies an impression unlike anyone else, managing to hone in on the essence of a celebrity whilst also adding her own unique comic spin. She absolutely deserves her own show and we're thrilled that BBC Two has given us the opportunity to help her bring a whole new raft of comic creations to life."
Produced by Jack Bayles and directed by Ben Palmer, Gregor Sharp is the executive producer of the series for the BBC. He says: "Morgana is a comedic force of nature who lights up every screen she's on and we've been excited about the prospect of her bringing her singular talents to this new series for BBC Two ever since she came to tell us about it. At least we think it was her."
Morgana Robinson's previous credits include Very Important Person, House Of Fools, The Morgana Show, Psychobitches and Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe. She can be seen this Christmas in the BBC One special Walliams & Friend.
Morgana will also be competing in the charity Great Sport Relief Bake Off 2016, expected to be broadcast in March.
