Kayvan Novak to star in 'Britain Today, Tonight'
Kayvan Novak is to star in Britain Today, Tonight, a spoof news show.
The satirical programme will see Fonejacker star Novak playing a variety of roles, from the news anchor to those he interviews.
Channel 4 describes the format as "a spoof tabloid 'news show' that promises to shine a light on contemporary Britain. But with Kayvan playing the part of the American anchorman, the reporters and even some of the subjects of the reports - this is the 'news' as you have never seen it before."
Britain Today, Tonight will feature "brand new characters specially created for the show", and see the star "causing havoc on the streets of Britain".
Channel 4 explain: "He'll be disguising himself as a range of weird and wonderful personalities in order to perform a range of hidden camera hits on celebrities and politicians, as well as winding up the public at large.
"With Kayvan at the centre of every 'news report', this is the hardest-hitting, most sensational, and most importantly, funniest news show ever seen anywhere in the world. Probably."
The show, which will be made by Peep Show creators Objective Productions, has been ordered by Channel 4's new head of entertainment, Ben Caudell.
This will not be the first time Kayvan Novak has put his ability to morph into a range of characters to use. Having risen to fame via Fonejacker and Facejacker, the BBC sitcom SunTrap saw written around his talents and saw his undercover investigator character morph into different guises.
Additionally, last year, Novak created his own multi-character pilot Parents' Evening for the BBC's Comedy Feeds strand; and last month Radio 4 aired The Celebrity Voicemail Show, a four part series in which Novak voiced a multitude of characters.
