E4 orders new sitcom Wasted
E4 has ordered a new sitcom called Wasted, "about the stupid things you end up doing when there's nothing to do".
The comedy has been created by James Lamont and Jon Foster, the writing duo who have previously worked on scripts for Cuckoo and developed the Comedy Central sitcom I Live With Models.
E4 explains: "Wasted focuses on four mates wasting their twenties in a West Country village.
"Morpheus, a geeky conspiracy theorist runs a mystical souvenir shop with his unambitious sister, Sarah. His scrounger best friend Kent sleeps on their sofa rent-free, and his secret crush, Alison, runs a new age healing business at the back of the shop."
Casting for the series has yet to be confirmed.
Channel 4 commissioner Nerys Evans says: "We can't wait to get 'Wasted' with the talented and unique voices of James Lamont and Jon Foster. It's exactly the kind of chaotic, hilarious and mischievous comedy we love having on the channel."
Richard Osborne from production company Angel Eye Media adds: "The experiences of young people living away from the big cities make for some very fertile comic ground and the scripts from Jon and James are hilarious. They've really nailed what it's like to hang out with old mates - and at the same time make some huge leaps of imagination. So in terms of tackling rural comedy and an unexpected format - Wasted is a real stand-out show."
Wasted has been commissioned as part of a drive to boost the scripted comedy content on E4. The channel also announced today it had picked up Roisin Conaty's sitcom pilot GameFace for a full series.
