Filming starts on new Ben Miller sitcom I Want My Wife Back
Production is now under way on I Want My Wife Back, a new BBC One sitcom from the team behind hit 2004 to 2006 sitcom The Worst Week Of My Life.
Starring Ben Miller and Doc Martin actress Caroline Catz, the six-part romantic comedy series observes a man who is bewildered when his wife suddenly leaves him, and follows him as he sets out on a quest to discover what went wrong.
The BBC explains: "Murray is shocked when his wife Bex walks out on their marriage on her 40th birthday. The series follows his attempts to find out why she has left him and how he can win her back... though it's less a journey than a floundering stumble in the dark towards the prize of returning his life to something approaching normality. Friends, family and colleagues are only too ready to offer advice to Murray about what he should do, and each week sees him adopt a new strategy to achieve his goal."
Stewart Wright (Love And Marriage), Kenneth Collard (Cuckoo), Susannah Fielding (Pramface), Peter Wight (Early Doors) and Cariad Lloyd (Crims) will also have regular roles in the sitcom.
Written by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni, the shoot for I Want My Wife Back is being overseen by Boy Meets Girl director Paul Norton Walker.
Ben Miller says: "I feel incredibly lucky to be back in the BBC comedy fold, playing the incredibly unlucky hero of I Want My Wife Back. With [production company] Mainstreet at the helm and Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni on script, this truly feels like a match made in heaven."
The BBC's Chris Sussman adds: "It's a very modern farce with a great cast, and I can't wait to see it on TV. The writers do a brilliant job of putting Ben Miller down a hole and then watching him painfully trying to crawl his way out..."
I Want My Wife Back will be shown on BBC One either later this year or early in 2016.
Ben Miller can currently be seen starring in CITV comedy Horrible Science, a series for which he also acts as executive producer.
