Comedy game show You're Back In The Room is to return for a second series.

The hypnotism-based format is hosted by Phillip Schofield, with contestants under the control of 'International Mentallist' Keith Barry.

A first series ran for four episodes during March and April, drawing an average of 4 million viewers to ITV each Saturday evening.

Each programme consisted of a series of very simple games - many in the Generation Game mould - made much more difficult by the contestants' hypnotic state.

Producers explain: "Five complete strangers will once again take on a series of simple games. The seemingly straightforward tasks get much harder, as their hypnotic triggers cause the contestants to unwittingly sabotage their chances of winning a cash prize."

Phillip Schofield said today: "I'm incredibly excited to be back with a second series. I don't think anything could have prepared me for the genuinely hilarious and completely unexpected moments that happened in the first series. Each of the contestants were thoroughly entertaining, and I can't wait to see what happens this time around!"

Claire Zolkwer, Commissioning Editor of Comedy Entertainment at ITV said: "You're Back In The Room proved to be real talked about television that provided moments of genuine hilarity. I look forward to falling under the show's hypnotic trance once again."

Karen Smith, CEO of production company Tuesday's Child, comments: "We're delighted that our brand new format has resonated so highly with ITV's viewers and is back for a second series. There will be plenty more laugh-out-loud moments for all the family, and I can't wait to meet our new contestants, who no doubt will be as unpredictable and entertaining as everyone from the first series!"

The second series will consist of just four new hour-long episodes, and is expected to be recorded shortly for broadcast this autumn.
