Comic Relief 'No Direction' band line-up revealed
Jack Dee, Nick Helm, Patrick Kielty, Vic Reeves and Johnny Vegas have been confirmed as the comics spoofing One Direction this week.
The quintet will become spoof band No Direction for Friday's Comic Relief - Face The Funny, performing live on the stage of the London Palladium for one night only.
The charity tribute group will be performing the real One Direction hit Best Song Ever, live on BBC One.
Jack Dee will play Louis Tomlinson, Nick Helm will become Zayn Malik, Patrick Kielty will channel Niall Horan, Vic Reeves will take on Harry Styles and Johnny Vegas will transform into Liam Payne.
In a press release today, Comic Relief quipped: "The new group will no doubt pull out all the stops to impress the audience with complex dance moves and harmonious vocals. One thing is for sure: boy bands have never looked so good."
Jack Dee says: "I'm most looking forward to expressing myself through the medium of dance and music, and seeing the audience in a state of absolute astonishment at what we do."
Nick Helm said: "I can sing and I can dance. But I'm not very good at singing and dancing at the same time."
Patrick Kielty said: "I can't wait to play Niall. I'm playing the most good looking and popular Irish man in the world. What could be better?"
Vic Reeves said: "We've all been rehearsing, singing and dancing. I can confirm that we are all born to do it."
Johnny Vegas adds: "The best part about being in No Direction is my fellow band members. Each one of us pushes the other to go that extra mile, because we all really want this."
It's not the first time that a group of celebrities has formed a tribute act for Comic Relief. Most recently, John Bishop, Alan Carr, James Corden, Catherine Tate and David Walliams became Fake That, a spoof version of Take That, recording a video for Happy Now in 2011.
Perhaps most famously, in 1997 Kathy Burke, Dawn French, Llewella Gideon, Lulu and Jennifer Saunders became Spice Girls tribute act the Sugar Lumps, and teamed up with the girls for the official Who Do You Think You Are? video.
In the following brief clip, the real One Direction introduce their alter-egos:
Comic Relief - Face The Funny will be broadcast live on BBC One from 7pm this Friday evening, 13th March 2015.
