ITV2 orders Job Lot Series 3
ITV2 sitcom The Job Lot will return for a third series.
Focusing on the staff and customers of a job centre in the West Midlands town of Brownall, the sitcom launched on ITV in 2013, moving to ITV2 for its second series in 2014.
The show stars Sarah Hadland as branch manager Trish, who is struggling to get over a messy divorce, with Russell Tovey as her favourite employee, Karl, a 20-something art graduate (both pictured).
Laura Aikman co-stars as deputy manager and Karl's love interest, Natalie, whilst Jo Enright plays the grumpy Angela, who's convinced she should be in Trish's place.
At the end of Series 2, Karl and Natalie gave in to heightening tension by entering into a relationship together.
ITV say: "In Series 3, the couple will find out just how difficult it is to have a relationship in front of all their colleagues, and a very demanding boss.
"Horrible Angela (Jo Enright) will be back with a vengeance to continue her reign of terror on unsuspecting jobseekers, alongside security guards Janette (Angela Curran) and Paul (Martin Marquez) and terminally work-shy Bryony (Sophie McShera)."
Series 3 of the sitcom will be filmed from later this Spring by Big Talk Productions, and consist of six episodes.
For the new series, creator-writer trio Clare Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis will be joined by Rachael New (Trollied) and Pappy's member Tom Parry (Badults).
Speaking to British Comedy Guide, an ITV spokesperson said: "We're absolutely over the moon it's back. The Job Lot is such a great, sharp, well-cast comedy."
The series will be directed by Sasha Ransome, with Jim Poyser producing. The executive producer for Big Talk - part of ITV Studios - is Kenton Allen.
Angela Jain, the head of ITV2, said today: "The Job Lot is a brilliantly sharp comedy and we're really pleased to have it back for a third series. Its style of humour and wonderfully observed cast of characters fits perfectly on the channel alongside our other scripted comedies."
Saskia Schuster, ITV's Comedy Commissioner, said: "We're really happy to bring back this delightfully warm comedy set in a Midlands job centre. The scripts are yet again superbly written as we catch up with our favourite characters."
