Toast Of London to return for Series 3
Toast Of London is to return for a third series.
Channel 4 has ordered another six episodes of the hit sitcom.
Written by Matt Berry and Arthur Mathews, the 'oddball' sitcom focuses on the life of Steven Toast a "middling actor" who spends more time dealing with his problems off stage rather than performing on it.
All the main cast are expected to return for the next run, with Robert Bathurst as flatmate Ed Howzer-Black, Doon Mackichan as useless theatrical agent Jane Plough, Harry Peacock as Toast's nemesis Ray Purchase, and Shazad Latif and Tim Downie as annoying sound engineers Clem Fandango and Danny Bear.
Channel 4 have announced the recommissioning news to coincide with the transmission of the final episode of the second series, which is being broadcast tonight (Monday 8th December).
Phil Clarke, Channel 4's Head of Comedy, says: "Channel 4 has always backed original comedy, the type of shows you wouldn't find anywhere else, and Toast Of London represents a significant new chapter in that story, and in our comedy heritage. We are so proud to have the show, with its amazing cast and hilarious scripts. Matt Berry and Arthur Mathews have forged a dynamic new writing team, and I eagerly look forward to their next series"
Executive Producer Andrew Newman adds: "Toast has been great fun to make and hilarious to watch, so we're very excited that Channel 4 have commissioned another series."
News that Toast Of London is to return will not come as a surprise to many, given that it has already won multiple awards for the network. In September it was awarded the prestigious international Golden Rose award for comedy, and in next week's British Comedy Awards it has nominations in six categories.
Series 3 will be filmed in June, and it is expected it will be broadcast in the winter of 2015.
