The nominees for the British Comedy Awards 2014 have been announced.

This year the awards, which are now in their 25th year, include two brand new categories, one is a newly created award to recognise comedy shows made especially for the internet, and the other an award to recognise a stand-out funny moment in a show.

Matt Berry leads the list, with six nominations linked to his Channel 4 sitcom Toast Of London. Harry And Paul's Story Of The 2s, the one-off sketch show from Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse; and the panel shows Would I Lie To You? and 8 Out Of 10 Cats, also have a notable number of nominations.

The shortlists, which have been determined by industry juries, can be seen in full below.

The results of The British Comedy Awards 2014 will be announced on Channel 4 on Wednesday 17th December. Jonathan Ross will once again preside over the ceremony, which will also include the announcement of who has won the The British Comedy Academy Lifetime Achievement Award and the Writer's Guild of Great Britain Award.

Channel 4 says: "A variety of A-list guests will bestow the coveted awards on nervous nominees, and viewers will discover who will be this year's King or Queen of Comedy; a title held by reigning king Jack Whitehall for two years running. Will he retain his crown for a third year running? Find out on the night when all will be revealed!"
