British Comedy Awards adds internet video category
The British Comedy Awards is adding a category into the 2014 British Comedy Awards this year to recognise the best online comedy videos.
'Best Internet Comedy Programme' aims to recognise British narrative comedy programmes and comedy entertainment made specifically as online content.
Creations by established broadcasters and videos by independent writers, producers and directors are eligible for the award.
British Comedy Guide and its readers have been invited to assist in creating the longlist for this new category. A dedicated voting website has been set up to allow comedy fans to view videos and then vote for their favourites.
Voting will close at midnight on 15th September, after which the voting data will be used by members of The British Comedy Academy to compile a shortlist that will go on to the Jury vote.
British comedy videos uploaded to the internet after the 24th September 2013 are eligible to be included in the voting process, provided they haven't been broadcast on television. Creators can use the submission form on the website to add their video to the voting process.
The British Comedy Awards 2014 will be presented in December, and broadcast live on television on Channel 4. As in previous years, the final nominees for the main categories will be revealed ahead of the ceremony in a dedicated TV programme.
