Off Their Rockers gets a third series
ITV has ordered a third series of Off Their Rockers, the hidden camera prank show which involves OAP actors.
The news has been expected, as the show - which is based on a Belgian format - has been a big ratings hit for ITV. The last series, which was broadcast in April and May this year, was regularly watched by over 3 million viewers.
The channel confirmed the recommission today, saying: "Building on the success of previous series, ITV has ordered a third instalment of hidden camera format Off Their Rockers.
"Proving that age really is nothing but a number, Off Their Rockers sees cheeky OAPs hit the streets of Britain on a fearless mission - to play an assortment of light hearted pranks, mischievous set pieces and carefully crafted stunts on the public."
ITV commissioner Claire Zolkwer says: "These fun loving outrageous OAPs have clearly struck a chord with young and old alike and I can't wait to see what they have in store for Series 3."
Murray Boland, the Executive Producer for production company CPL, added: "We're delighted to be back for a third series of Off Their Rockers. ITV viewers have taken the pensioners to their hearts and can look forward to even more outrageous pranks lined up for the new series."
Tim Gerhartz, who sells the rights to other countries, explains its popularity: "Off Their Rockers has proven its hit potential, with worldwide pickups and excellent ratings. A third season in the UK is more than just the icing on the cake!"
