Filming starts on Series 2 of Psychobitches
Sky Arts have announced that filming has started on a second series of Psycobitches, the sketch show starring a host of well-known female comedy actors.
The show, which sees various historical figures seeking therapy, will return for six new episodes later this year. Sky says: "Following the success of the first series, the therapy sessions in front of discerning therapist Rebecca Front (pictured) are set to continue as the appointment diary looks as booked up as ever."
The series sees a number of iconic women from history played by the core cast of Samantha Spiro, Sharon Horgan, Morgana Robinson, Michelle Gomez, Katy Brand, Doon Mackichan, Meera Syal, Sheila Reid, Selina Griffiths, Zawe Ashton and Frances Barber.
Series 2 will also feature Sophie Ellis-Bextor, plus male comedy duo Cardinal Burns. Jack Whitehall, who made a cameo as Princess Diana in Series 1, will also return.
Executive Producer Ben Cavey says: "It's fantastic to bring the team back together for Series 2 of Psychobitches. We have a whole new line up of women from history getting a dose of modern day therapy and the results promise to be just as clever, insightful and downright silly."
Sky's Saskia Schuster adds: "We are really proud to be bringing Psychobitches back for a second series. We can look forward to lots of new characters, as well as re-visiting some of our favourites from Series 1. Since we launched the one-off in 2012, the series has become a key part of Sky Arts' comedy offering to our customers."
The new series, which is being directed by Jeremy Dyson from The League Of Gentleman, will be shown on Sky Arts 1 later this year.
Series 1 of the show was voted as one of the best sketch shows of 2013 in the Comedy.co.uk Awards. In the below clip Samantha Spiro plays Liz Taylor:
