Further details
Nellie wishes to join the Town Business Women's Club so she is entertaining two of its members to tea and dinky pies at home. All is going well until Eli arrives a bit worse for wear. This is the last straw for Nellie, so she makes him sign the pledge - no more drink!
After 7 days, 6 hours and 35 minutes, Eli has rediscovered new things in life, like the curtains in the living room, and how to tie his own shoelaces. Later, whilst out selling pickles around town, the Spread Eagle's barman introduces him to vodka. With a splash of lime and lemon, Nellie will never smell it on his breath. Aha! The perfect drink!
He takes two bottles home, and he and Nellie end up sinking both bottles and getting a bit on the tipsy side, just as the two leading ladies of the Town Business Women's Club reappear to recruit Nellie as their latest member.
