Harry Worth is a man for whom confusion and disaster never seem far away.
After a latest round of talking at crossed purposes, Harry - a door-to-door cleaning products salesman - finds himself taking up a very amenable new residence as the lodger of Mrs. Maybury. Luckily she finds his endless bumbling to be enormously endearing, but she's just about the only one who does!
From bank managers to policemen and TV repairmen to doctors, chaos always seems to ensue if Harry Worth is involved in even the slightest manner.
