The mortality of comedy series is high. They struggle from the nest to the stream, all eggy and agog, poor little beasts, and there at the water's edge awaits an unattractive bird, beady eyed. I picked up Mr Big (BBC1) and dropped it. Not with a sharp exclamation of disgust. More in indifference.
