Review by The Stage

Television isn't the natural home for monologues which, by their very nature, don't offer an awful lot to look at. Strong writing and performances are essential to keep impatient fingers away from the remote control. But Mouth to Mouth was very impressive on both counts.

Harry Venning, The Stage, 10th November 2008

Analysis by The Custard TV

With great guile, writer Karl Minns weaves together three monologues to tell the stories of the three members of girl group Cats Eyes, teasing out the true story. He shows the same touches as Alan Bennett did in Talking Heads, only gently revealing that the people talking about their lives are painting a rosy picture of misery.

The Custard TV, 9th November 2008

Another comedic swipe at the pop industry, this time following three girls - Anna Nightingale, Pippa Duffy and Ayesha Antoine - as they try to carve a career with their group, Cats Eyes.

Interweaving monologues, songs and drama, it's lightweight but lovable with a witty script from Karl Minns and additional material available online at Bebo.

Metro, 7th November 2008

Anna Nightingale, Ayesha Antoine and Pippa Duffy star as the three members of fictional girl band Cats Eyes, who see stardom beckon as they are accepted onto TV talent show Fame Search. The whole show is presented as a series of intercut monologues from each girl, which is initially fun but feels a bit wearing after half an hour. This show is far better consumed in short bursts, which is handy as each episode will be available as a series of short episodes both on the BBC website and on Bebo.
