This magical documentary film celebrates the lives and careers of the greatest comedy double act ever to grace the TV screen, telling their story by delving into the archives and piecing together the best footage they ever committed to celluloid. And what better time to do it than Christmas?

As well as digging out great performances, chat show appearances and long-forgotten interviews, the programme also includes contributions from colleagues, family and friends to reveal the true stories behind these legends of British entertainment, all told by those who knew them best.

Eric Morecambe's mother Sadie first spotted their potential as a double act as children, when they were annoying her on a train journey to Coventry. They were separated during the war, and only a chance meeting after it brought them back together.

The pair nearly gave up at their first attempt, when one critic described the TV set as 'the box they buried Morecambe and Wise in'. A strike helped them to become the act we all know and love, and Eric's first heart attack inadvertently led to the greatest decision they ever made. Then came the meteoric rise that drove them to become the most watched comedy act in British TV history.

This is a fantastic tale of two working class northern lads who took the world by storm and became as much a part of Christmas as tinsel, turkey and the Queen herself.
