Merry Widows is the first BBC One sitcom to be written by the creator of hit BBC Three show Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps.
It follows three generations of women who have all lost their husbands before the age of 30.
Starring Miriam Margolyes (Blackadder, Harry Potter) as Renee, whose husband was killed in the conflict in Borneo in the Sixties, and Natalie Casey (Two Pints Of Lager, Legally Blonde: The Musical) as Billie, whose husband Matthew has just been killed in Afghanistan, plus Jackie, Billie's Mum and Renee's daughter who lost her husband to a virus in the early Nineties. We join the three women just after Matthew's funeral, at his wake, where Billie seeks comfort from the vicar.
Other cast members include Michelle Gomez (Green Wing), Warren Brown (Grownups, Luther), and Adam Gillen (Benidorm).
