Following their elopement and honeymoon, Alec and Zoë are back home preparing to face everyone. Simone is not at all happy that Alec and Zoë have eloped because, after all, middle age solicitors from Pinner do not elope with their bit of fluff. Middle aged solicitors from Pinner are married in the local church by the middle aged solicitors son-in-law and have a reception at the vicarage which happens to be the middle aged solicitors daughter's home!
Back at work Alec finds poor Jamie in the middle of a war zone with a no mans land in the space between Miss Flood and Hilary's desks. Miss Flood is still very unhappy about Hilary being engaged to Anthony whilst Hilary wishes she would butt out. Simone announces that Zoë is not the only one in the family way.
