Tolu Ogunmefun interview
We chat to Tolu Ogunmefun, who plays Nate in Series 2 of Man Like Mobeen...
Hi Tolu. Man Like Mobeen is back for a second series. What does Nate get up to in these new episodes?
I'm very excited for the new series. Nate's really grown within this season; he is more involved in the gang, he is the mother to all and is less nervous in this season I think.
Was it fun to be reunited on set again with Guz, Tez and Duaa? Or is the shooting schedule too tight to have any time to socialise?
It's always fun on set with the lads - literally constant jokes, I love it. Even when the schedule is tight we make more important time to socialise anyways, lol.
Your entry into the world of acting is an interesting one. Perhaps you could recap for those that might not know?
Well, I started off making a video on Facebook in 2008 which when viral, so I decided to make more which also went viral, then I started posting videos on YouTube [as Dont Jealous Me] and the rest was history.
Your last YouTube video was a while ago now. Have you finished posting to your channel?
No, I have some new things in the works; I'm kind of a perfectionist with my content so it takes a while, but I'll be back soon.
Would you say 'do it yourself' is the best way nowadays to initially show what you can do and get recognised, in the competitive world of entertainment?
Most definitely. I think it's important not to wait around and just create content, build your fan base and the rest will come.
What's next for you Tolu? Any other projects in the pipeline?
I will be doing a stand-up tour, working on an animation series and some more TV and film work for sure.
Presumably you'd be up for Man Like Mobeen 3, if it gets given the go ahead. Any thoughts on what you'd like to see your character getting up to?
Hopefully my character gets a girlfriend, goes to the gym and becomes a millionaire... then we do the Nate spin-off movie, where he ends up on Wakanda and helps Black Panther. Yea, that would be sick.
