Luv is the story of Harold Craven and his family, his wife Terese and their three adopted children; Victor, Hannah and Darwin. Harold is a proud, wealthy, self-made man who runs a successful factory making plastic flower pots. He has his Rolls Royce and his chauffeur, Lloyd, and he has given his family everything they could materially want. But what they really need from him cannot be bought with money.

Terese is searching for independence and fulfilment. Victor is gay and simply looks for his father's respect, not embarrassment. Hannah has an Italian boyfriend whom she wants to marry but Harold hates. Darwin is a confused teenager, passionate about animal welfare and desperate to put right all the wrongs in the world. This all leaves Harold somewhat confused about his life, his family and his future - what more can he give them?
