Concluding episode of the sitcom about Stevenage builders. This has been almost as effective as Him & Her at showing how warm intimacy and ghastly behaviour can go hand in hand. It's Lee's stag night, but it's at Nikki's hen do where the seeds of disaster are sown. And when the two groups meet? Carnage.

Are UK sitcoms too sentimental?

The current crop of British comedies are peppered with 'hugging and learning', but how far can convivial comedy go before it veers into sentimental mush.

Episode three of the likable mockumentary (and that lesser-spotted thing, the working-class sitcom). Lee's love life gets complicated when Mrs Bryce-D'Souza's on-off husband shows up. And poor, sweet, befuddled Dean shows hidden depths when he premieres his poetry at a local arts club.

A crass mockumentary about two builders who are lifelong best friends: one laddish, the other childlike and strange. The writing and performances are so unsophisticated that, whether or not it's what was intended, it looks as if we're being invited to laugh at working-class culture, and at some vulnerable characters.
