Channel 4 passes on Lee And Dean Series 3

The creators of Channel 4 sitcom Lee And Dean have revealed the sitcom has ended after two series, as it didn't get enough viewers to guarantee a Series 3.

British Comedy Guide, 14th April 2020

Channel 4 should be applauded for taking a punt on this working-class comedy. One of the funniest shows on TV, the second season has seen the Stevenage builders grapple with a changing world of antenatal classes, fourth-wave feminism and cadavers on the Costa del Sol. This riotous finale finds them on top form.

Mike Bradley, The Guardian, 16th May 2019

Mark O'Sullivan and Miles Chapman's latest side-splitting dispatch from the frontline of the Stevenage construction industry finds the boys back on sparkling form following last week's dip. It's a tale of rubbing parchment, fourth wave feminism and the elevation of Nightmare to "conflict resolution chief".

Review: Lee and Dean - best comedy you're not watching

When I watched the first series of Lee and Dean last year, I have to admit that I wasn't fully on board from the start. Initially, I was bothered by the mockumentary style

Sophie Davies, The Custard TV, 23rd April 2019

This overly crass mockumentary about two Stevenage builders returns, with Lee and Dean's uneasily close friendship on the skids after the unpleasantness at the end of series one. A funeral brings everyone together again, but the moments of pathos are drawn with just as thick and blunt a pencil as the bathos.

I talk to Mark O'Sullivan & Miles Chapman

"We've always said that there should be heart at the centre of what we make. Because without that, you don't believe in the characters."

Anna Morris: How my deafness made me a comedian

As I'm deaf in one ear, I have always had to watch people extra closely - the perfect preparation for character comedy.

Anna Morris, The Guardian, 1st April 2019

Best mates Lee (Miles Chapman) and Dean (Mark O'Sullivan) were builders who swanned around their native Stevenage in a white van. Dean had less luck with romancing the customers than womanising Lee in this sharply executed, semi-improvised comedy - and that's because he was desperately in love with his mate. Our stars pulled this intriguing and original premise off superbly: the laddish banter was funny in itself but, thanks to some deft plotting, the pathos was brought into sharp, sometimes heartbreaking relief.

How we bluffed our way into TV

Despite the success of our C4 sitcom, we still feel like outsiders, says Bingo's Mark O'Sullivan.
