Maurice is determined to start taking his health more seriously. Meanwhile Grace's very valuable violin has been stolen and Barbara wants Maurice to get it back. The series ends with the gang pulling off an explosive getaway.

Further details

Maurice's check-up at the doctors doesn't quite go as planned when the doctor has a heart attack. Syd, who is lingering in the waiting room, frantically drives Maurice and the doctor to hospital.

Once home, Maurice determines to take his health more seriously - but his plans to chill out for a while are marred by an irate Barbara. Grace's very valuable violin has been stolen and she wants Maurice to get it back. Now.

Meanwhile, Syd is harbouring a secret. He was at the doctor's for an appointment of his own, not just to support Maurice. But Syd's way of handling bad news is to get drunk, so he hooks up with his wayward son, Joe, and together they go on an all-day bender.

So, just when Maurice needs Syd to do a raid on the local music shop to retrieve Grace's violin, Syd is paralytic. Hedley is furious that they are going to do a job with Syd in that state, but Maurice is adamant that they need him. Unsurprisingly, the job does not go well and the gang are in danger of being caught red-handed.

Struggling to find a way out, Maurice - the strategist - thinks that maybe it would be easier if they surrendered. They're old and decrepit and shouldn't be putting themselves under this stress. Syd can't believe his ears and, in an emotional bid to get through to Maurice, he reveals his secret...

Maurice is shaken back to reality and, with the help of Barbara, Young Nick, Helen and Joe, the gang pull off an explosive getaway.
