Further details
Grace drops a bombshell on her parents when she tells them she's taking a year off university to go to New York with her boyfriend, Lee, and work as a burlesque dancer... or stripper, as her father calls it.
Maurice goes into protective father mode and endeavours to learn everything he can about the boyfriend before she goes, which involves breaking into his flat. However, he is stopped in his tracks by a spooked Grace, who whacks him round the head with a frying pan. When Grace later sees her dad with a cut head, and acting strangely under interrogation, her suspicions go into overdrive.
Meanwhile, Maurice has other issues at hand. The famous safe-maker, Gerard Wilson, has died. The one safe that Maurice failed to crack was made by Gerard. Now, with Gerard out of the picture, Maurice is adamant that the gang will find the safe and crack it. Hedley and Syd, however, are less than keen - they believe the safe is cursed. But Maurice is the boss and what he says goes, so the boys go about hunting down the safe and planning the job.
Grace, in her search for truth, confronts Syd and questions him about her father's past. Syd's nervous procrastination further fuels her suspicions. Barbara isn't much better under duress and finally Grace decides it's time to face her father head on. She steals Syd's notebook and follows them to the lock-up where the safe is being stored. There, she finds her dad, who she believed worked in a bank, about to crack a safe...
