Bethan stays home from school to look after her mother Trina following an altercation with her father the night before. However, that means that she misses an important mock exam prompting a home visit from Ms Morgan, her English teacher.

Lydia also misses the exam she's recovering from her drunken birthday night where events took a turn for the worse when she went off with Tony Chippy.

While Bethan is back at school getting tantalisingly close to Poppy, Dilwyn takes Trina to the coast in his van where things get heated and Trina ends up being re admitted to the mental hospital. Bethan reaches rock bottom.
