Bill English is a top consultant in management training. He has an expensive car, spacious penthouse and Anna, an attractive French girlfriend. Life looks good. But all this is illusory and Bill starts to realise it.
The past haunts him and he finds that he is trapped within it. His colleagues and girlfriend cannot penetrate his melancholy and Bill grows paranoid. He enters a kind of vengeful madness, inflicting mindless damage on his surroundings and eventually signing his own - not unsought - death warrant.
