Marc Wootton interview
The comedian, actor and star of High & Dry on the things that make him laugh the most.
Harriet Gibsone, The Guardian, 6th July 2018Marc Wootton's decent desert island comedy - which pitches its improvised palm frond shelter somewhere between Lord of the Flies and Benidorm - continues. In tonight's episode, flight attendant Brett (Wootton) and Douglas depart for the other island - and make an interesting discovery.
John Robinson, The Guardian, 1st June 2018The castaway capers continue as Douglas spies an inhabited island a mere raft-ride away. Brett wants everyone to stay on his idyllic atoll, coaxing a spurned Susan into derailing Douglas's escape plans. With a kangaroo court constructed to keep Douglas contained, it's up to Arnab to save the day.
Mark Gibbings-Jones, The Guardian, 25th May 2018The desert island disgrace continues in this new comedy, as the castaways run out of airline food. Douglas offers to utilise his hunting expertise but, sadly, his survival skills are more Gentle Ben than Bear Grylls. Brett has a plan for uncovering Harriet's secret and Ventolin vamp Susan tries to seduce Douglas.
Mark Gibbings-Jones, The Guardian, 18th May 2018The latest, desert island-set sitcom from Marc Wootton features characters who are as irritating as sand in your swimming costume - but therein lie the laughs. In this episode, survivors Harriet (Vicki Pepperdine) and Douglas (Harry Peacock) find a dinghy, but their plan of escape soon goes awry.
Ellen E. Jones, The Guardian, 11th May 2018Marc Wootton on filming High & Dry
His new Channel 4 comedy was made in the sun-soaked Seychelles - but it wasn't always paradise.
Claire Webb, Radio Times, 4th May 2018Preview: High & Dry
New comedy series High & Dry begins Friday 4th May on Channel 4. Here are Sophie's thoughts on the opening episode...
Sophie Davies, The Velvet Onion, 4th May 2018Even on an island paradise, hell is other people. Such is the neat premise of Marc Wootton's new comedy about castaways who survive a plane crash. There are some good one-liners but, in this opener at least, Wootton's garish sociopath, flight attendant Brett, rather overpowers the show.
Jonathan Wright, The Guardian, 4th May 2018TV review: High & Dry, C4
Channel 4 is presumably pretty pleased with new sitcom High & Dry. It was originally due to air on E4 but has had an upgrade and now goes out on C4. Is their confidence justified? It is probably down to how much you can bear obnoxious characters.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 4th May 2018High & Dry review
If you were to think of the worst person to be stuck on a desert island with, Marc Wootton's latest grotesque would be hart to beat.
