Elis James & John Robins try out Made Up Games for TV
Elis James and John Robins are filming three live performances of Made Up Games, the regular segment of their radio show, on stage as a taster for a potential transfer of the feature to television.
The pair have announced they will be at London's Bloomsbury Theatre on December 5th, 7th and 8th with the crowdsourced format, in which they play games listeners to their 5 Live show have made up for them.
"Elis and I are turning Made Up Games into something bigger and better and, crucially, LIVER," says Robins. "Hmmm. Not sure that works written down actually. LIVE-ER? Not entirely happy with that either tbf. Anyway, we're doing some live shows of Made Up Games as a little fun jaunt / test / opportunity for TV big wigs to curse themselves for overlooking our irresistible chemistry 2014-date."
Adjudicated by producer Dave Masterman, Made Up Games has been part of the duo's popular radio format since their days on Xfm, albeit with a different theme tune inspired by the rock group Queen to their current theme tune inspired by the rock group Queen.
"I love playing Made Up Games, I even love losing them live on national radio," said James. "But nothing excites me more than the prospect of losing a Made Up Game in front of an audience at one of London's best theatres."
Robins adds: "For years, I have been demolishing Elis in a variety of made up games, but only Producer Dave has been able to witness it live. So please come along to see the spectacle for yourself! Unless, that is, the games are about football league grounds, northern accents, postcodes or The Beatles. In which case I'm toast."
Tickets for the performances are now on sale, promising "special guests, low budget prizes and, if John has his way, a beer fridge on stage". Prices start at £25. Book now
