Sarah Hadland dance sitcom in the works
Sarah Hadland is writing a sitcom inspired by her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, and wants her friend Miranda Hart and dance partner Vito Coppola to feature in the comedy, she has revealed.
The Miranda star is working with Car Share scribe Paul Coleman on the idea, disclosing this weekend that: "I would love to do some kind of comedy about a dancing teacher - that's always been my goal.
"We're developing something at the minute on that idea. Hopefully something might happen."
Hadland played Stevie, the joke shop manager and Miranda's best friend in Hart's eponymous BBC sitcom.
She explained that Hart had "made it clear that she's an expert on all the dance styles, so she would have to feature" in the dance comedy.
Hadland added: "Vito could be in it. I'd love to be a dancing teacher - he'd be the hot instructor. That's the casting."
Hart has played a cheerleading role in Hadland's run on Strictly, sending daily videos and messages, as well as sharing dance tips on Instagram.
Hadland joked: "Miranda's doing Strictly though me." And Coppola added: "It's me, Sarah... and Miranda. Every week she gives us tips, notes and advice."
Having impressed with her performances on the series, Hadland says that the Saturday night primetime staple has been a big confidence boost for her.
She admitted: "Coming into it, I was adamant that, with the age I am, I knew what I can and can't do. I put a lot of limits on myself. 'I'm at this point in my career... I'm a mother, this is what I do... I'm the age I am.' I would never do that again."
Hadland is currently second favourite with bookmakers to lift the Strictly Glitterball trophy, behind stand-up Chris McCausland.
