Royal Variety Performance 2024 comedy line-up announced
The line-up for The Royal Variety Performance 2024 has been announced, with a number of stand-up comedians set to appear on the bill.
The show, which will be attended by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, is being recorded at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday, for broadcast on ITV1 in December.
Alan Carr and Amanda Holden have been announced as the presenters for this year. Carr says: "I am completely thrilled to be asked back to host the Royal Variety Performance so soon, what a compliment and an honour! To be able to host this magical evening with my best friend and TV wife Amanda Holden is the icing on the cake for me. If we have half as much fun as we did three years ago, well we are all in for a real treat."
Talking about the comedy that'll be part of the programme, the producers say: "Stand-up comedy this year will be provided by Ellie Taylor of Ted Lasso fame, political comic Matt Forde who will give a review of the year, plus writer and comic Scott Bennett and award-winning Scottish comedian Larry Dean."
Also involved in the show will be the team behind The Play That Goes Wrong, debuting a sneak preview of their new 2025 West End show, The Comedy About Spies.
On the eve of their 50th anniversary, comic magicians Penn & Teller will also perform, and Stephen Mulhern "will be wowing the Royals with an incredible illusion".
The line-up will also feature Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas, the casts of Oliver!, Starlight Express and The Devil Wears Prada, Cirque Du Soleil and the English National Ballet. The music line-up includes Eurovision winner Nemo, James Bay and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
