Production is underway on Transaction, Jordan Gray's ITV sitcom set in a supermarket.

In the six-part series the comedian plays a transgender egomaniac, causing havoc in the strange world of the supermarket nightshift.

The producers explain: "Jordan Gray stars as Liv, a transgender egomaniac, causing havoc in the strange world of the supermarket nightshift. Having been hired to work there by Pellocks boss Simon after he inadvertently offended the LGBTQ+ community with an ill-conceived marketing campaign, Liv soon realises she's unsackable and sets about turning the store into her own personal playground, unleashing chaos on everyone and everything around her.

"Transaction promises to be a colourful and noisy comedy from writer-performer Gray."

Producers have released a picture of Gray as Liv standing alongside co-star Nick Frost, who plays Simon.

The sitcom started life in 2000 as a series of six short online episodes funded by Comedy Central. These episodes, which scored over 2 million views, are still available to watch online.

The new version, which again will feature Thomas Gray as her friend and co-worker, will be premiere on ITVX in 2025. Two Doors Down star Doon Mackichan and Francesca Mills (Jemma in Sneakerhead) will also feature in the cast list.

The network confirms: "Liv will be unleashing chaos and turning the store into her own personal playground in this new comedy, Transaction. Coming soon to ITVX".

The series was first announced in 2022. Gray, who has written the episodes, jokes: "My one true goal with this show is to create something as timeless as my implants."

ITV's Head of Comedy, Nana Hughes, says: "Jordan Gray's unique blend of humour and creativity certainly make Transaction an exciting and engaging comedy. We cannot wait to see Jordan Gray and Nick Frost in action."

The show is being made in Hartlepool by Ludwig producers Big Talk Studios, with Ollie Parsons (Man Like Mobeen) directing.

Executive producer Kenton Allen comments: "Transaction promises to be a very eye-catching contemporary comedy, with Jordan Gray, Nick Frost and Thomas Gray forming an unlikely but electric three-some. Jordan's razor-sharp writing and timing paired with Nick's legendary comedic presence is comedy dynamite. And of course, it's always a thrill to work with Mr Frost, a Big Talk OG of the finest vintage."
