Greg Hemphill and Robert Florence's sketch show Queen Of The New Year is returning to BBC Scotland on 1st January for the fourth year running.

Covering Donald Trump, the General Election and the European Football Championship, the show promises to make viewers "smile, wince and reminisce" as it pokes "fun at the news and gossip of the last twelve months".

Joining Still Game star Hemphill and Burnistoun co-creator Florence in the cast are their The Scotts co-stars Louise McCarthy and Barbara Rafferty, stand-up and actor Stephen Buchanan and Limmy's Show! alumni Martin Quinn and Paul McCole.

Writers on the show include Hemphill, Florence and Buchanan, plus comedian brothers Paul Black and Mark Black, as well as fellow stand-ups Stuart McPherson and Kim Blythe, character comic Zara Gladman, and journalist-turned-comedy writer Zara Janjua.

Free tickets for a pre-bells screening of the show on 10th December at the IMAX cinema in Glasgow are now booking.

Meanwhile, Des Clarke will present the Not Quite End Of The Year Show on the same channel, revived from a 2019-20 format hosted by Susan Calman.

Airing on New Year's Eve, ahead of the channel's main Hogmanay celebration, the show promises "music, laughter, and reflections on Scotland's standout moments from 2024".

Stand-up Clarke, host of topical radio panel show Breaking The News, said: "It's such a joy to be part of Hogmanay on BBC Scotland. 2024 has been filled with so many incredible moments, and I can't wait to look back on them with our guests."

Also broadcasting on BBC Scotland over the festive season is a stand-up special from Mark Nelson.

Taped in March at the Theatre Royal in the comic's home town of Dumfries, Nelson, the host of radio panel show The Good, The Bad And The Unexpected, announced the recording by posting on social media:

"So, pretty big news. The BBC have given me a TV special to be broadcast later in the year. My own TV special. I'm as surprised as you are."
