Sarah Kendall has confirmed that Frayed has come to an end.

The comedy drama - which also starred Ben Mingay, Kerry Armstrong, Diane Morgan, Robert Webb, Frazer Hadfield and Maggie Ireland-Jones - ran for two series. It followed the story of Sammy, a wealthy housewife who is forced to trade the opulence of her life in London to return to her resolutely working class roots in Australia.

Despite receiving good audience and press reviews, Kendall confirmed on Twitter that the show will not be returning for a third series, despite the cliff-hanger ending of Series 2.

In a further reply, she briefly outlined her plans for the third series, saying: "I had planned for S3 a time jump of 5 years. Dan survived that night but left town and Sammy ended up going to jail for the murder. They found the body. Series 3 would begin with her release from jail, Jim picking her up."

Most recently, Kendall scripted episodes of Sky Max comedy drama Dreamland.
