Avoidance Series 2 begins filming with Aisling Bea and Matthew Lewis
The second series of Romesh Ranganathan's Avoidance has begun filming.
Production got under way this week for Series 2 of the BBC One sitcom, with Aisling Bea, Matthew Lewis and Colin Hoult amongst those joining the cast.
Jessica Knappett, Kieran Logendra, Mandeep Dhillon, Lisa McGrillis and Bruce Mackinnon all return to their roles from Series 1.
The BBC says: "Avoidance is a series about living your life avoiding conflict, avoiding making decisions and avoiding the mess that causes. If Series 1 was about a break-up and rebuilding a broken home, Series 2 is about falling in love, messy reconciliation and a baby."
Other new members of the cast include Louise Ford (The Windsors), Olive Tennant (Belfast), Alex Ranganathan, Jessica Ransom (Horrible Histories), Paula Wilcox (Man About The House), Philip Jackson (Brassed Off), Ed Kear (Here We Go), Michael Spicer (The Room Next Door), and Brona C Titley (The Outlaws).
Romesh Ranganathan says: "I'm delighted to be back on set with this amazing cast, so much so it almost makes up for the crushing agony of my recent spandex-filled wardrobe fitting..."
Written by Romesh Ranganathan, Benjamin Green and Jessica Knappett, the series will air in 2024.
Meanwhile, Bea has just wrapped shooting with Nick Frost on the horror film with darkly comedic elements Svalta in Finland, having taken over the lead role from Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey, who stepped back from the feature due to scheduling conflicts.
Written by Frost with James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, Svalta follows a family on their summer holiday to a remote Swedish island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them, the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family.
Also featuring Sebastian Croft (Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans) and newcomer Maisie Ayres, the film is directed by Steffen Haars, founder member of the Dutch comedy group New Kids, who have graduated through television to internationally acclaimed filmmaking.
