Code 404 unlikely to return for Series 4
Daniel Mays has said Code 404 "almost certainly won't be coming back" for a fourth series, as he and co-star Stephen Graham are too busy.
The Sky Comedy series, which is about a police detective who is brought back from the dead, launched in 2020 to big audience numbers. It ran for eighteen episodes, across three series with the most recent run concluding in August 2022.
Speaking to The Sun, Mays - who played the genetically enhanced DI John Major - said: "We're good friends, Stephen and I, but it would be pretty much impossible to get us back in the same room together because of work commitments.
"We were lucky to get three seasons of Code 404 and had great fun doing it, but it almost certainly won't be coming back."
Mays was speaking to the newspaper to promote The Long Shadow, the ITV1 drama about serial killer Peter Sutcliffe in which he plays one of the victims.
Reflecting further about Code 404, which is written by Daniel Peak] and also stars Anna Maxwell Martin and Rosie Cavaliero, Mays said: "I think Code 404 to me represents a pure kind of unadulterated entertainment. You know, it's slapstick funny, there's great drama in it."
